For the last couple of weeks, I have been substituting for the Vinyasa Yoga class at Omega. Teaching yoga and being taught are two completely different experiences, and I enjoy both for different reasons. I love the class environment because you feed off the energy of everyone in the room. You can ask your body to do things that you have never tried before. Sometimes, your body will cooperate, and sometimes it says no, and that’s okay. You are able to bring your focus inside and just enjoy being in the moment, without expectations.
Teaching is more of a brain work out than a physical workout. You are required to stay present and aware of each movement so that you can direct the class in the proper execution of each pose. It is satisfying to help others feel the benefits of a good, vigorous yoga practice.
